Hi, I'm Sarah. It’s so easy to push ourselves down on the priority list when we’re juggling busy lives. So many other things vying for our attention mean that we often don’t make time for our own self-care. But I’ve found that when we take, even a small pocket, of time for ourselves, we’re better for it, in every way.

When Skincare Stopped Working For Me

While taking a career break to focus on being a full-time mum, I started to experience severe skin sensitivities. My skin became dry, extremely sensitive, and I began having flare-ups. My skin was overwhelmed, and so was I. I struggled to find products that worked and didn’t cause further irritation.

I began to create my own, using high-performing natural ingredients that began to nourish and restore my skin. I also started to feel like myself again - calm, grounded and confident. This inspired a simplified daily ritual that gave me a moment to nurture myself and protect my skin. 

Through having conversations with other women entering mid-life and the changes that come with it, I was motivated to develop skincare I knew would help them.

I set up an in-house lab and was trained in Organic Skincare Formulation through an award-winning School of Organic Cosmetic Science. I set about creating skincare that works and fits beautifully into real life. Because you don’t need to add anything more to your list!

The birth of Pamoja®    

Pamoja® is a Swahili word meaning “together”, inspired by my Tanzanian heritage. The heart of the Pamoja® brand is to walk alongside women through midlife skin changes with care, compassion, and connection.

Working with a wonderful community of women, I combined these thoughtfully crafted formulas with my professional training. Each element of these early beginnings, brought together, shaped a product range that has gone on to win several internationally recognised awards. It’s been an honour to be recognised by The Beauty Shortlist and Free From Skincare Awards.

Outside of the lab, I’m a wife and mum of two. As a family, we love exploring the beautiful coastline of North East England, where we’re based, along with live music and curling up with a great book.
