Sustainability is a big part of my ethos at Pamoja. So, when it comes to Black Friday, I face an interesting dilemma.
We've all seen the heavy discounting and panic buying at this time of year and perhaps felt overwhelmed and sad at the waste, carbon emissions, and environmental damage that's associated with Black Friday. According to think-tank Green Alliance, around 80 per cent of items bought over Black Friday and the weekend that follows, along with their packaging, end up in landfills or incinerated. At the same time, saving money on your favourite brands and products matters.
So I ask:
Is it possible to do Black Friday, right?
Yes, it is. In a cost of living crisis, we don't have money to waste and we are rightly more conscious about how and where to shop. People are also looking for value and to be able to shop ethically. I know my customers want to feel good and do good, so I want to help you to make some savings for the products you love.
By participating in Black Friday, I'm not trying to encourage a throwaway culture. I hope the savings I'm going to offer this Black Friday will help you make those kinder, more mindful choices and enable you to relax and be in the moment with your loved ones this festive season.
