Sustainability is a big part of my ethos at Pamoja. So, I face an interesting dilemma when it comes to Black Friday.
We've all seen the heavy discounting and panic buying at this time of year and perhaps felt overwhelmed and sad at the waste and environmental damage associated with Black Friday. According to the think tank Green Alliance, around 80 per cent of items bought over Black Friday and the following weekend, along with their packaging, end up in landfills or incinerated.
At the same time, saving money on our favourite products at the busiest time of year matters.
So, as a sustainable brand owner (and consumer) I ask:
Is it possible to do Black Friday and feel good about it?
Yes, I believe it is. It’s more important than ever to be mindful of how and where we shop, especially during a cost-of-living crisis.
Many of us are seeking simple ways to access high-quality, ethical products, so I’m here to help you save a little more on the skincare products you'll love and trust to come back to time and time again.
By participating in Black Friday, I'm not trying to encourage a throwaway culture. I won't be slashing prices, but I hope my modest savings this Black Friday will help you make kinder, mindful choices and feel good about them. That way, you can plan ahead, relax, and be in the moment with your loved ones during this holiday season.
